Bike Safety at Cal Young Middle Makes News
Middle school bike safety education was the topic of an April 28th KVAL Channel 13 news segment. The story highlighted education at Cal Young Middle School and included interviews with students and 4J Safe Routes to School Coordinator, Sarah Mazze. The segment was a good reminder that bicycle safety coursework teaches practical skills, like hand signals, that let bicyclists and motorists communicate. These are important skills that can prevent collisions. Only half of Eugene middle schoolers are able to take part in bicycle safety education courses due to funding constraints.
