Please Welcome Springfield School District’s New Safe Routes to School Coordinator

Matthew bike picMatthew Fisher was recently hired as the Springfield School District’s next Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Coordinator. Matthew takes the place of Emma Newman, who recently moved on to a planning position with the City of Springfield Planning Department. Previously, Matthew has worked in various government agencies, most recently at the University of Oregon Police Department, in a role supporting its transition from a public safety agency to a full-fledged police force.

Matthew looks forward to working with Guy Lee Elementary School, Centennial Elementary School, and Briggs Middle School as they move into the evaluation stages of their SRTS action plans. Beginning in October, Matthew will meet with the principals of Two Rivers-Dos Rios Elementary School, Riverbend Elementary School, Mt.
