Back to School News

It’s back to school time!

Here are a few things we are thinking about as we wrap up the summer and jump into fall:

Register for Walk+Bike to School Day!

WalknBike-logoA great way to start the school year is to get registered and start planning for your schools participation in National Walk and Bike to School Day on October 9th!  Maybe you’ll plan something for a whole month or just for that single day but the time to start planning is now. If you are one of the first 250 schools to register in Oregon you will receive an organizer package with prizes and organization tools to help you have a successful event. You can also apply to LTD’s point2point SchoolSolutions program for a stipend for your school.

Squeeze in the last bit of summer bike adventure!

Five years ago we started our Eugene SRTS program at Roosevelt Middle School at the 4j School District.  From the start we were working to grow and create a sustainable program. A few years ago we worked with the Bethel School District to hire a half-time SRTS program manager and last year we created our Strategy for a Regional Safe Routes to School Plan.  A part of our regional program is to support Springfield students and we are excited to announce that ODOT will be working with LTD point2point Solutions to fund a half-time SRTS Program Manager at the Springfield School District! We’re excited to have an SRTS Program Manager at each of the school districts in our area and the ability it gives us to create a better community through more active transportation!
